Stockstill named to CFPA Watch List

Among just 36 nationally to make cut
JULY 27, 2017 – CHARLESTON, South Carolina – College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) announced its 2017 preseason watch list for the CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy and Middle Tennessee's Brent Stockstill was among the 36 listed.
Stockstill, who is also on the Maxwell, Davey O'Brien, Wuerffel Trophy and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Watch Lists, as well as a nominee for the AFCA Good Works Team, is a redshirt junior quarterback on the verge of becoming Middle Tennessee's all-time passing leader.
Stockstill, a redshirt junior, is 21st nationally among active players in career passing yards and fourth in passing yards per game. He owns the Middle Tennessee career records in touchdown passes (61), 300-yard passing games (14), 400-yard passing games (2) and passing yards per game (303.3).
Stockstill suffered a broken collarbone against UTSA last season and missed the final three games of the regular season before returning for the Hawaii Bowl, where he threw for 432 yards and four touchdowns.
Despite missing the final 3-1/2 games of the regular season, Stockstill still threw for 3,233 yards and 31 touchdowns. He averaged 323 yards passing per game and completed 61 percent (262-of-414) of his pass attempts.
Stockstill has completed 65 percent of his 907 career passing attempts while throwing for 7,279 yards in two seasons.
The list includes thirty-six returning performers from the Football Bowl Subdivision. The 2017 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top. All FBS players are eligible for the award. The award winner will be announced January 10, 2018.
