MT falls to UMKC at Culvers Governors Challenge, 3-0

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team dropped its season opener to the UMKC Roos, 0-3, in the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center this morning.
The Blue Raiders hit .032 in the match while the Kangaroos posted a .366 mark offensively.
Junior Regan Coughlin paced the Blue Raiders recording nine of the teams 22 kills. Meanwhile, junior Makila York added five kills and a dig on the right side.
From her libero spot, sophomore Brienna Tankesley registered 12 digs while sophomore setter Taylor Hammill tallied 19 assists and seven digs.
In the second set, neither team was able to build a substantial advantage until the Kangaroos took a 20-16 lead. However, just a few points later Coughlin recorded an ace to close the UMKC lead to two (21-19). From there, the Blue Raiders could not get any closer than three as they dropped the set 25-22.
For the third straight set, the Kangaroos came out of the gates fast building a 20-9 lead before cruising to a 25-15 win to take the match.
