Raiders try to go back-to-back in Cincinnati

Strong field awaits Blue Raiders
CINCINNATI – After opening the season last week with a victory, the Middle Tennessee men's golf team get back into action Monday at the Bearcat Invitational. The 54-hole event will take place at the Coldstream Country Club which is a par 71 layout that covers 7,150 yards.
The 12-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday. There will be a shotgun start Monday from 7:45 AM – 8:00 AM and then tee times will be used for Tuesday. In a different twist, the teams will play with six players and count four.
The field will consist of host Cincinnati, Akron, Arkansas, College of Charleston, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Xavier.
"This will be a good test for our young team at a very challenging course," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "Hopefully we will build off the momentum we created last week and be in the mix the final day."
The Blue Raiders lineup will consist of juniors Marcus Byrd and James Beckner, sophomores Tyler Johnson, Tanner Owens and Ilari Saulo, and redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson.
Byrd shot even par at last year's event to finish fifth overall as only four players were under par for the tournament.
