Blanked for just the second time in 2017
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee dropped their Conference USA opener Sunday in a tightly-contested match, falling 1-0 to UTSA.
The Roadrunners took the lead in the 34th minute when Jasmine Marwan played a ball into the box that Channing Machen fired home.
It was soon after that the Blue Raiders had a chance to equalize as freshman Peyton DePriest earned MT a penalty kick. Amber Hoot's attempt from the spot, however, clanked off the crossbar and landed safely behind the net.
DePriest logged four of Middle Tennessee's 13 shots, but the Blue Raiders' leading scorer was unable to put anything on frame in the contest.

"We certainly didn't start the game the way we normally do. Credit to UTSA They made it difficult for us, but we didn't really play our game until midway through the second half." – Head Coach Aston Rhoden on the team's performance
"We didn't keep the ball which is what we're typically good at. We got off to a slow start today, but started to pick it up in the second half and create more opportunities, but we just didn't have it today." – Rhoden on what held them back offensively today
