BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team opens its conference play with an 8-5 non-conference record. The Lady Raiders secured early victories this season, opening their 2017-2018 campaign with four straight wins.
The team looks to translate its preseason success into Conference USA play matching up against rival Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7p.m.
Scouting the Lady Toppers
The Lady Toppers opened their season with a 79-76 victory over SEC competitor Missouri at the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City, Iowa. WKU added another eight victories in non-conference play to enter Conference USA with a 9-4 record.
Senior forward Tashia Brown leads the Lady Toppers offense recording 307 points to average 23.6 this season. Brown records the sixth-best shooting percentage on the team with 111-of-263 baskets made (.422).
On the defensive end, senior forward Ivy Brown remains active on the boards picking up 127 rebounds while picking up 25 steals this season.
The Lady Raiders lead the all-time series over the Lady Toppers, 33-27.
Lady Raiders Take Down Kentucky with Second-Half Comeback
After trailing by double digits in the third quarter, the Lady Raiders continued to fight and grabbed a 62-57 victory over the Wildcats on Dec. 28.
The seniors paced the scoring for the Lady Raiders with Abbey Sissom (22) and Rebecca Reuter (16) posting a combined 38 points.
