MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – With a conference-opening road win at UAB already under its belt, Middle Tennessee heads back on the road to face FIU Thursday in Miami.
The Blue Raiders (9-4, 1-0) and Panthers (7-7, 1-0) are facing off for the 38th time in series history with MT holding a 29-8 advantage all time. Middle Tennessee is also 26-5 against FIU under head coach Kermit Davis and 14-4 when playing at FIU Arena.
MT is led offensively by senior forward Nick King, the nation's sixth-leading scorer (23.8), but it was the Blue Raider defense that impressed in a 63-60 win at UAB that saw King and senior guard Giddy Potts combine for 49 points.
The FIU trio of Trejon Jacob (16.5 ppg), Brian Beard (15.2) and Eric Lockett (14.9) lead the way for the Panthers who opened up Conference USA play last Satirday with a 58-57 win at home against Florida Atlantic.
The Blue Raiders are riding a streak of six consecutive wins in Florida and 11 straight wins against teams from the state of Florida that includes a home-and-home sweep of Florida Gulf Coast earlier this season and dates back to March of 2015.
MT and FIU are set to tip at 6:00 p.m. CT and can be streamed on C-USA TV.
