Francis, Petty, Patten Earn C-USA Athlete of the Week Accolades

IRVING, Texas – Following the Ed Temple Classic last Sunday, three Blue Raiders earned Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors this week. Cecelia Francis has been named the C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week while Lamarco Petty and Jacob Patten earned the C-USA Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week accolades.
Female Track Athlete of the Week: Cecelia Francis
Recording her first Athlete of the Week nomination, Cecelia Francis opened her collegiate career at the Ed Temple Classic in style posting two first place finishes. The Lagos, Nigeria native claimed the title in the 200-meter dash with of a time of 24.97 in addition to posting a 6.91 finish in the 55-meter event. Francis posts the best women's collegiate time in the nation in the 55-meter event this season to rightfully earn her spot as the female track athlete of the week.
Male Track Athlete of the Week: Lamarco Petty
Freshman Lamarco Petty claimed his first victory of his collegiate career in Nashville, Tenn., after recording a time of 6.55 in the 55-meter dash. Petty inks the second-best time in the conference while leading the Blue Raiders in the 55-meter event.
Male Field Athlete of the Week: Jacob Patten
Junior Jacob Patten represented the Middle Tennessee men's field team on Sunday recording two first place finishes in his respective events. Patten notched a 2.03-meter high jump before recording a 14.14m distance in the triple jump. The junior posts the furthest distances for Middle Tennessee this season in both field events.
The Blue Raiders return to action this weekend to compete at the Commodore Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
