Johnson cards a 1-under 71
GREENSBORO, GA – Middle Tennessee opened with a 5-over par 293 in the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday to stand in 11th place. The 54-hole event is being held at Great Waters Golf Club at Reynolds Lake Oconee (par 72, 7,073 yards).

Georgia leads the event after round one followed by Alabama, Penn State, and Ohio State.
"We did not have a really good start to the tournament today but we still have two rounds to go," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "We just need to take advantage of our opportunities and build some momentum early. I know we are playing well and I expect the results to match over the next two days."
Tyler Johnson once again led the Blue Raiders with a 1-under par 71 that included four birdies. Johnson is tied for 20th overall.
Junior James Beckner is tied for 40th after carding a 1-over par 73. Beckner also notched four birdies on the day.
Junior Marcus Byrd had three birdies on his way to a 74 and is tied for 50th, while Chip Thomas is tied for 60th with a 3-over par 75.
Ilari Saulo turned in a 79 and is tied for 84th.
The second round will get underway Monday morning before the final round is played on Tuesday.
