MT's first match as a ranked team this season

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis is set to take on South Alabama in Mobile on Saturday morning in their first match as a nationally ranked team this season.
Ranked No. 50 in the latest ITA poll, MT is looking to build off two wins in last weekend's Conference USA Pod at the Adams Tennis Complex. Gian Issa moved into a tie for eighth all-time in singles wins in program history, and Chris Edge is now in the top 10 among freshmen in singles and doubles wins.
The Blue Raiders are road warriors so far this season, posting a record of 5-1 away from the ATC. The only loss came against currently-ranked No. 19 Vanderbilt, 4-3. As a team, MT is a combined 29-5 at the No. 5 and 6 spots in the lineup.
South Alabama enters the weekend with a 9-5 record, including a 5-1 mark in home matches. Loic Cloes leads the Jaguars with a 13-0 record in singles matches this spring at the top of the lineup. Despite being strong at the top of the singles lineup, the Jaguars are .500 or worse as a team at No. 4, 5 and 6.
In doubles, Cloes pairs with Clement Marzol for a 7-1 mark at the top doubles spot, and South Alabama is 10-1 as a team at No. 1. Depth in doubles has also been an issue for the Jaguars, as they are 6-5 at No. 2 and 6-6 at the bottom of the doubles lineup.
