Blue Raiders Claim Nine Top-Finishes at Joey Haines Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Blue Raiders claim nine top-finishes at the Joey Haines Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Solomon Afful and Lamarco Petty opened the invitational with a one-two finish in the 100-meter dash. Afful claimed the first place finish with a time of 10.80 while Petty finished in second close behind Afful at 10.86.
Likewise on the women's side Cecilia Francis inked a top finish (11.92) in the 100-meter dash while Ida Mensah (12.38) claimed a third place finish.
The men and women also claimed a pair of first place finished in the 400-meter dash. Abike Egbeniyi (53.14) crossed first for the women, while Jaquez Torian led the men with a time of 48.10, in their respective events.
Patience Akanwogba (2:17.10) inked her first top-finish of the outdoor season in the 800-meter. Likewise, Joice Jebor finished first in the 1,500-meter event.
Meanwhile, six Blue Raiders competed in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Raleigh Relays. Geoffry Cheruiyot (9:06.46) posted the top-finish for the Blue Raiders this weekend in Raleigh with a 10th place finish in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
