Egbeniyi Clams Top-Finish at Day One of the Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Abike Egbeniyi claimed a first place finish in the women's 800-meter to mark the only Blue Raider to clinch a top finish at the Tennessee Relays during the finish day of the contest. Egbeniyi crossed the line at 2:03.66 to mark her second-best time of her collegiate career in the 800-meter event.

Meanwhile, Geoffry Cheruiyot claimed a fourth place finish in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:47.43.

Edidiong Odiong claimed an eighth place finish in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.40 followed by Cecilia Francis (15th, 11.61) and Mirlege Castor (25th, 11.73). On the men's side Solomon Afful claimed the best finish in the 100-meter dash to finish in 14th place with a time of 10.48. Meanwhile, Lamarco Petty finished in 20th (10.63) followed by Ifiok Umoh (23rd, 10.71) and Keyon Hugle (31st, 10.86).

Likewise, in the women's 200-meter dash Odiong claimed a tenth place finish (23.40) followed by Francis (39th, 24.44) and Castor (42nd, 24.46). On the men;s side, Afful clinched an 11th place spot (21.23) followed by Lamarco Petty (25th, 21.60) and Umoh (49th, 22.44).

Joycelyn Assafuah claimed a 10th place finish in the women's 400-meter dash crossing the line at 54.29. Simiarly, Jaquez Torian clinched a sixth place finish in the 400-meter event with a time of 47.30 followed by Adeniji Adedamola (9th, 47.88) and Matthew Stewart (20th, 48.82).

Trevon Sanders inked an eighth place finish in the men's 800-meter race with a time of 1:52.22. Following Sanders included Julio Acevedo (25th, 1:57.63) and Nathan Mack (26th, 1:57.99).

Rachel Kigen inked a fourteenth place finish in the women's 5,000-meter event to wrap up the day.

The Blue Raiders will wrap up the Tennessee Relays on Saturday, April 14 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
