FORT MYERS, Fla. – Middle Tennessee opened up the Conference USA Women's Golf Championship with a strong showing on Monday, firing an 11-over par 299 to land in second place through 18 holes.
Juniors Hanley Long and Jenna Burris led the way at 1-under (71) and even par (72), respectively. The pair both sit high up the leaderboard, placing in the Top 4 in round one.
The Blue Raiders, the No. 3 seed in this week's championship, sit five strokes back of No. 2 seed and tournament leader UTSA (+6) and are two strokes ahead of defending champion and No. 1 seed Old Dominion (+13).
Freshman Caroline Caudill will lead off on Tuesday with an 8:50 a.m. CT tee time on the first tee. Live scoring can be followed on Golfstat.com.

- Junior Hanley Long logged her 10th round of par or better of the season and her fourth round of par or better in three appearances at the Verandah Club
- Long's eagle on the Par 5, 475-yard 15th hole was her second eagle of the season
- Redshirt junior Jenna Burris carded her ninth round of par or better in 2017-18 and also notched her fourth round of par or better in her career at the C-USA Championship
