Joins Blue Raiders after one season at Missouri State
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Head Men's Basketball Coach Nick McDevitt announced Monday his first signee at Middle Tennessee as Missouri State transfer Reggie Scurry has signed to join the Blue Raiders for the 2018-19 season.
A 6-foot-5 forward, Scurry will join the Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro this summer after playing one year at MSU and the previous two at Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa College.
"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to play for a program like Middle Tennessee," Scurry said. "It is run at a high level by great coaches. I can't wait to get started in Murfreesboro this summer."
Scurry played in 21 games last season for the Bears, earning a pair of starts before missing the final stretch of the season with a foot injury. He averaged 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per outing while shooting over 50 percent from the field and also logged 19 blocks on the year.
The Georgia native had a career night against Missouri Valley champion and Final Four participant Loyola Chicago, posting 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting and grabbing seven boards.
"Reggie is a very mobile and skilled forward," McDevitt said. "He will provide athleticism and versatility to our frontcourt. We really look forward to him being a Blue Raider."
As a sophomore at Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa, Scurry was named an NJCAA Third Team All-American as he started 31 games and led his squad to a 23-10 record with team highs of 15.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Scurry was a Georgia Class AAA First Team All-State selection in 2015 at Augusta's North Clayton High School where he averaged 17.8 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per game as a senior.
