STROKE PLAY RESULTS
TEXARKANA, AR –Middle Tennessee shot a final round 295 to finish second in stroke play at the 2018 Conference USA Championship. The tournament is being held at the Texarkana Country Club, a par 72 with a length of 6,969 yards.
UAB won stroke play with an 872 total, while MT was at 877 followed by Charlotte and Rice.
The top four teams advance to match play where the winner will be crowned the C-USA Champion and earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional.
The Blue Raiders will be the No. 2 seed heading into match play this afternoon at 4 PM. MT will face third seeded Charlotte while UAB will take on Rice. They are hopeful to get in all 18 holes for the semifinals today.
Middle Tennessee and UAB were tied for the lead with three holes left. The Blue Raiders shot 2-under par the final three holes but UAB went 7-under with eight birdies to grab the win.
Tyler Johnson led the Blue Raiders in the final round with a 2-under par 70 that included an eagle and birdie on holes 16 and 17. Johnson tied for sixth overall with a 2-over total of 218.
Marcus Byrd carded a 2-over par 74 on Tuesday and tied for sixth overall as well, while Chip Thomas turned in a 75 and tied for 11th. Byrd shared the tournament lead in par 3 scoring at even par and Thomas tied for third at 1-over.
James Beckner had a 76 in round three to tie for 21st and Hoyeong Kim had a 78 to tie for 44th. Beckner also led the field in par 5 scoring at 6-under for the tournament.
