An all-around athlete, B.H. Thompson used his MT years to hone and refine his athleticism and to prepare for a career in high school coaching and administration. After graduation, he coached for Middle Tennessee schools, including Antioch and Donelson high schools as well as at Moore County High School.
In his 40-plus years of high school coaching, several of his teams won championships, most notably the 1937 and 1938 Antioch girls' basketball championship and the boys' championship in 1938. While at Donelson High School in 1949, his team also took a championship. He was principal at Joelton and Glencliff high schools for more than 22 years.
