Barry McClure
- Induction:
- 1996
- Class:
- 1974
A two-time NCAA triple jump champion and national collegiate record holder in the event, Barry McClure was the first in a long line of nationally and internationally famous triple and long jumpers to train and compete under Blue Raider veteran coach, Dean Hayes.
"Barry has a legitimate claim to being one of the fathers of triple jumping in the U.S.," says Hayes, a Hall of Famer, "along with teammate Tommy Haynes (already a member of the MTSU Hall of Fame.) In most national meets during their careers, the triple jump was up for grabs between MT and UCLA."
