Among MT's most celebrated basketball recruits of the 1970s, Claude "Sleepy" Taylor's per-game averages included 14.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists. As a member of Coach Jimmy Earle's most successful teams, Taylor led Blue Raider basketball to two OVC tournament championships and two regular season titles.
As a senior, Taylor was named to the All-OVC team while leading the team in scoring (18) and free-throw percentage (.794). He was sixth in career field goals with 533. He is still one of the most popular players to ever wear a Blue Raider basketball uniform.
