Cromer Smotherman

An all-around athlete and four-year letterman for both Blue Raider baseball and football, Cromer Smotherman went on to play professional baseball for the New York Yankees, advancing to AAA level and playing with latter-day Yankee luminaries such as Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin and Whitey Ford. Coach Charles "Bubber" Murphy described Smotherman as "one of the best baseball players we ever had and an outstanding football player."
Following his athletic career, Smotherman went on to success in private business.
