Dewon Brazelton, a dominating right-handed pitcher from Tullahoma High School, was MT's highest drafted baseball player ever, going third overall to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2001.
In 2001, Brazelton made five All-American first teams and snagged the Sun Belt Conference athlete of the year award. He finished his MTSU tenure with single-season (154) and career (335) records in strikeouts, and he ranked second in complete games (22) and career victories (28). He won an amazing 73% of the games he pitched.
Brazelton was the undeniable ace for Blue Raider squads that went to the two NCAA Regionals. He captivated foes with a blazing fastball, complimented with a knee-buckling curveball.
