Dwight Stone
- Induction:
- 1998
- Class:
- 1986
A junior college transfer, Dwight Stone had an immediate impact on Blue Raider football when he arrived in 1985. Splitting the tailback slot with teammate Gerald Anderson, Stone ran 11 times for 679 yards (an average of 6.1 yards per carry) and led the team in scoring with 13 touchdowns. His play was key in MT's perfect 11-0 season and a No. 1 ranking in Division I-AA nationally in 1985.
A native of Florala, Ala., Stone went pro, first with Pittsburgh and later with Carolina. His blazing speed and willingness to both take and deliver blows earned him respect first as a running back and later, a wide receiver. Stone finished his MT degree in 1996 and later worked beside his former coach and mentor James "Boots" Donnelly at the Blue Raiders' kicking and receiving camp.
