Erik Walden
- Induction:
- 2019
- Class:
- 2007
Erik Walden is arguably the most fierce pass rusher in Blue Raider football history with 62 total sacks or tackles for loss in his career. Walden became the first defensive end in school history to be drafted when taken in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and he would go on to play for the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV. A two-time All-Sun Belt Conference performer, Walden is Middle Tennessee’s all-time sack leader with 22.5. That total is still good for fourth in Sun Belt Conference history. Walden enjoyed a record-breaking year in 2006 by recording a school and conference all-time best of 11.5 sacks, which ranked 11th nationally. He led Middle Tennessee to a Sun Belt Championship in 2006 and a berth in the Motor City Bowl which was the first bowl game of the I-A era in school history. Walden ended his career ranked among the Top 10 in 11 different single-season and career categories, all for either tackles for loss or sacks, and continues to be ranked in each category to date.
