Rated as one of the Blue Raiders' best all-around backs by former teammate and long-time MT football head coach, athletic director and Hall of Famer, Charles "Bubber" Murphy, John Hambrick was also a talented left-handed hitter for Blue Raider baseball.
"John was one of the best all-around players I ever saw. He could do it all," said Murphy. "An outstanding passer, he also was a strong runner, great punter, blocker and fine defensive back. On the baseball field, he was a good outfielder and a fine left-handed hitter." After graduation he coached for three years at Lawrenceburg High School, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
