Credited with being the best 6'3" post man MT ever had, John Price's athletic career spanned seven years at MT. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, he developed a reputation as a sharpshooter. Able to shoot with either hand, he shot over 50 percent from the field each season. During that time, he was one of the top all-time basketball scorers, racking up 1,215 points. Twice named captain of the team, Price was all VSAC and All-OVC second team.
At the conclusion of his sophomore year, he went into the military and spent two years in Germany. There, he further honed his basketball skills, by playing in more than 70 games and making the All-Service team.
