Kendall Newson is one of the all-time great receivers in Blue Raider football history and made his mark as Middle Tennessee was breaking into Division I-A football. Upon the completion of his playing career, Kendall ranked No. 1 in career receptions (238), No. 1 in career receiving yards (3,704), No. 1 in consecutive games with a catch (43) and No. 2 for career touchdown receptions (21). Kendall was the Blue Raiders’ go-to receiver in the team’s first two seasons of the FBS era, leading Middle Tennessee to winning seasons in 2000 and 2001. His outstanding efforts and leadership also helped lead the Blue Raiders to the 2001 Sun Belt Conference championship – the program’s first title as a FBS member. Kendall was a first-team All-Sun Belt selection in 2001, and he was selected first-team All-Independent in 2000. Kendall was selected to play in the Hula Bowl All-Star game in 2002, which showcased the talents of some of college football’s best athletes.
