Larry Joe Inman
- Induction:
- 2014
Larry Joe Inman took over the fledgling Middle Tennessee women’s basketball program in 1979 and blazed a trail that immediately put it on the path to the championship status that still holds firm today. During his tenure at the helm (1979-1986), Inman tallied a 161-73 won-loss record and led his highly-talented squads to five Ohio Valley Conference championships, four OVC tournament championships and four NCAA tournament appearances. His 1982-83 squad was the first-ever Blue Raider women’s basketball team to earn a berth in the NCAA tournament. Inman’s fellow OVC coaches recognized his coaching abilities by electing him the OVC Coach of the Year following the 1980, ’83, ’85 and ’86 seasons. After a brief retirement from coaching, he re-entered the field, coaching at Eastern Kentucky University and Tennessee State University. He is also a member of the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2009.
