- Induction:
- 1979
- Class:
- 1969
A Nashville, Tenn., native and star MT basketball player from 1967-69, Willie Brown broke MT's all-time scoring record for a career. His total of 1,524 points was compiled in just three seasons and eclipsed that of his coach and fellow Hall of Famer, Ken Trickey.
"When he arrived at MT, Willie became one of the first two black athletes to play for any MT team," said Trickey. "There was a great deal of pressure on him but he handled it well. He was a highly intelligent person who possessed a strong, confident competitive nature."
