Andy McCollum Golf Invitational Set for June 19-20

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The second annual Ole South Properties Andy McCollum Golf Invitational is scheduled for June 19-20 at Indian Hills Golf Club. The two-day event is setup to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Rutherford County. "I am very happy to be working hand-in-hand with John Floyd and Ole South Properties in helping out the youth in our community," McCollum said. "We had a lot of success last year and that is why we have added another day to the tournament. It has been received very well. In fact, we expect to have 72 teams entered this year." McCollum and his staff recently hosted 400 kids from the Boys and Girls Clubs on campus where they put them through drills, gave them one-on-one instruction, and spoke to them about the game of football and the importance of an education. "We had a great group of kids last week and I think they truly enjoyed themselves," McCollum said. "They are our future and we are proud to donate our time in teaching them more about football and positive attitude." The 2001 tournament has four sponsorship levels - Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The Bronze level includes a four-man team, 1 red tee and a mulligan per player, while the Silver level adds four complimentary tickets to the patrons' party on June 22. The party, which will feature music by Burning Las Vegas and food from Outback Steakhouse, will be at the home of John Floyd. The Gold level offers eight tickets to the party, while the Platinum sponsor will have 16 complimentary tickets to the party. A hole sponsorship is also available for $200. The debut of the Andy McCollum Invitational raised nearly $60,000 for the Boys and Girls Club last year and the 2001 event expects to raise even more. Last year's tournament was considered the largest of its kind in the middle Tennessee area, which is the main reason it has moved to a two-day event. The four-man scramble tournament gets underway both days with a noon lunch at the course followed by a shotgun start at 1 PM.
