MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee junior Amber Holt was voted the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Blue Raiders in contests versus top-ranked Maryland and South Dakota State, as announced by the conference office.
Holt averaged 23.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in Middle Tennessee's two contests, versus No. 1 Maryland and South Dakota State. She also added three assists, two blocks and five steals in the two outings.
Against the defending national champions, Holt tallied 28 points on 11-of-24 shooting with eight rebounds. Her 15 first-half points kept the Blue Raiders in the contest when the Terrapins threatened to run away with the game.
Against SDSU, Holt scored 19 points and added 10 boards for her first career double-double. She averaged 39.0 minutes of action in the two contests and was 14-of-16 at the line as well.
The Duluth, Ga., native becomes the 15th Middle Tennessee player to earn POW honors since joining the Sun Belt and the sixth different Blue Raider to garn the honor.
Middle Tennessee returns to action this weekend at the Subway Basketball Classic at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minn., facing Maine Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. All Blue Raider women's games may be heard at 88.3 FM WMTS in Rutherford County, 1400 AM WZMG in Shelbyville and at GoBlueRaiders.com.
