MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior Ashley Asberry has been named Honorable Mention Blocker of the Year by College Volleyball Update.
Asberry was one of four players to receive the honor with Penn State's Christa Harmotto being named CVU Blocker of the Year. This is the second consecutive year Harmotto has received the honor as she had just seven blocking errors in 113 sets this season with 166 overall blocks averaging 1.47 per set.
The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native ended the 2008 season with 185 total blocks averaging 1.39 per set. This put Asberry 14th on the NCAA list for blocks per set.
Asberry ended her career by ranking at the top of the single-season list for block assists the last three seasons, setting the career record for block assists with 556 and block assists per set with 1.43.
Asberry received a number of honors during the 2008 season including American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-America, Sun Belt First Team and Sun Belt All-Tournament.
