Blue Raiders down Golden Eagles 11-5

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A combination of good pitching and productive offense guided the Blue Raiders to an 11-5 win over Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night.
Senior Kevin Whittaker took the win on the mound after working 4.2 innings in relief allowing just one run on two hits. Whittaker struck out three batters in the outing as he improved to 3-3 on the season.
Freshman Daniel Palo received the start working 4.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
The Blue Raider offense recorded 16 hits on the night led by junior Justin Miller who went 3 for 5 with a home run, three RBI and scored two runs.
Junior Tyler Acker also performed well at the plate going 3 for 4 with two RBI and scored a run.
Senior Zach Hudson, junior Tyler Burnett and sophomore Justin Guidry each recorded two hits in the game with Guidry driving in two runs.
Middle Tennessee got on the board first scoring two runs in the first. The Blue Raiders held onto the lead until Tennessee Tech tied the score at 2 in the third.
The Blue Raiders extended their lead 4-2 in the fourth after recording four hits in the inning.
Tennessee Tech knotted the score again at four in the top of the fifth.
Middle Tennessee quickly responded adding a run in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Miller, 5-4. The Blue Raiders added another run in the sixth extending their lead to two, 6-4.
The Golden Eagle added a run in the seventh on a groundout to short, 6-5.
Miller hit a two-run home run to left field adding to the Blue Raider lead, 8-5. Middle Tennessee added two more in the seventh inning on four hits taking a five run lead, 10-5.
