CHOUDRANT, La. - The Middle Tennessee men's golf team opened play Sunday at the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic and grabbed the first round lead to extend its hot streak. The Blue Raiders fired a 10-under par 278 at the Squire Creek Country Club which plays as a Par 72, 7,105 yards.
The No. 45/46 ranked Blue Raiders have now led in all seven rounds played this spring.
Host Louisiana Tech is seven shots back in second place with a 285 while Southeastern Louisiana is third and Southern Miss stands fourth. Rice rounds out the top five.
"We played well in the first round and got on top early," said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. "That's just one of three rounds, we have a lot of golf left but I like how we started."
Senior Jason Millard, who won the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate earlier this spring, carded a 4-under par 68 to grab the overall lead after day one. Millard now has a round in the 60s in all eight tournaments played this year.
Paul Sansom, Brad Simons, and Hunter Green all shot 2-under par rounds of 70 to tie for fifth.
Brett Patterson completed the scoring on day one with a 76.
The Blue Raiders will tee off for the second round on Monday beginning at 11 AM.
