2015 Schedule
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tenneessee softball team unveiled its 2015 spring schedule Tuesday afternoon.
Highlighted by four tournaments, 16 home contests and a game against 2014 national runner-up and reigning Southeastern Conference champion Alabama, the Blue Raiders are slated to play 56 games in the spring.
"Our 2015 schedule will be a challenging one to say the least," said Head coach Jeff Breeden. "We are attending two SEC tournaments (Ole Miss and Miss. State) and two very prestigious tournaments in Florida (Dot Richardson Classic and the USF Under Armour Classic)."
MT will open up the spring Feb. 6-8 in Starkville, Miss., for the Mississippi State Tournament where they will play four other teams, including the Bulldogs on Feb. 6. MSU finished the season 39-21 en route to earning a berth in the NCAA Regionals in Lafayette, La.
The Blue Raiders will be in Clermont, Fla., the following weekend for the Don Richardson Classic Feb. 13-15 against Umass Lowell, South Dakota State, Florida A&M, Liberty and Cleveland State.
MT makes a second trip to Mississippi where they will take part in the Ole Miss Red and Blue Classic in Oxford that features Nebraska-Omaha, SIU Carbondale, UT-Martin and host Ole Miss Feb. 20-22.
The following weekend will close out the non-conference tournament schedule for the Blue Raiders as they make the trek to Clearwater, Fla., for the USF Under Armour Classic Feb. 27-March. 1 against Maine, Radford, Oakland, Rhode Island and Eastern Carolina.
MT will open its home slate on Mar. 4 against Tennessee State before going back on the road versus UTEP March 7-8 to kick-off its second year in Conference USA. A non-conference midweek contest will ensue with the Blue Raiders heading West for Las Crucas, N.M., to square off against New Mexico State on March 10.
"We are looking forward to our 12 home dates where our local fans can come out and support our Blue Raiders," stated Breeden. "Our conference schedule is once again one of the best in the country."
Middle Tennessee will return home four days later for its conference home opener against Florida International March 14-15. MT will matchup against in-state foe Austin Peay during the week on March 18 before going on the road to Boca Raton, Fla., to play Florida Atlantic March 21-22.
Three days later, UT-Martin will visit Murfreesboro in a midweek game against the Blue Raiders before ending March at home against UTSA in a weekend series March 28-29.
The Blue Raiders will begin April with four contests away from home while traveling up the road to Nashville to play Belmont April 1. A weekend series against Charlotte April 3-4 will follow and a neutral site game against 2014 national runner-up Alabama will end the road trip. The Crimson Tide fell in two games to Florida in the finals and finished ranked second in the nation with a 55-13 mark.
Marshall, the 2013 C-USA champions, will make the trip to Murfreesboro three days later for a weekend series before Belmont drives down during the week on April 15.
MT and Southern Miss will square off on the Golden Eagles' home field before taking a break from conference play with four consecutive non-conference contests against UT-Chattanooga, Samford, Alabama State and Tennessee State.
May 2-3 concludes the regular season with home weekend series against rival WKU.
The C-USA Softball Tournament will take place four days later May 7-9 in Boca Raton, Fla., hosted by FIU.
