NASHVILLE - Middle Tennessee's Zac Curtis earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week (TSWA) on Tuesday.

The senior allowed one earned run in a complete-game victory over 10th-ranked Rice, as the Blue Raiders took 2-of-3 from the Owls over the weekend. The lefthander gave up just five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in a 3-2 win in Friday's series opener.

The Hendersonville, Tenn., native struck out seven or more batters for the sixth time in seven starts this year and tallied his fourth straight outing of seven-plus innings. Curtis is 3-1 with a 3.17 ERA in 48.1 innings of work this season, striking out 59 with just 15 walks.

On Monday, Curtis was named the Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week. The TSWA honor is the first for Curtis. Trent Miller was tabbed the TSWA Player of the Week on March 18.

Middle Tennessee hosts Memphis in a pair of midweek contests before traveling to Southern Miss for a three-game series this weekend.
