Junior ranked nationally in doubles last season
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee head women's tennis coach Shelley Godwin announced the addition of Brittany Huxley to the 2014-15 roster. Huxley spent the past two seasons at the University of Arkansas.
"We are very excited to have Brittany joining our program this fall," said Godwin. "Her character, work ethic and experience are going to play an integral part in helping our program continue to move forward."
While at Arkansas, Huxley picked up 16 singles victories and 21 doubles victories. In 2013, she was tabbed the SEC Freshman of the Week where she helped the Razorbacks clinch a win over LSU and also won at No. 1 doubles for the first time in her career.
Last season, Huxley reached as high as 38th in the ITA Doubles rankings with partner Kimberley-Ann Surin. The duo picked up a pair of upsets over ranked doubles teams, including knocking off Oklahoma's 31st ranked pairing of Ritchie and Lancaster.
Prior to her arrival at Arkansas, the Grafton, Australia native achieved a top-100 women's national ranking by the age of 15. She also represented her native country in international competition.
The junior is expected to start competition this fall. Her first match as a Blue Raider will be at the Austin Peay Invite on Sept. 20-22.
