MT Heads West for ITA All-American Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Seniors Tiffany William and Nayara Moraes will represent the Middle Tennessee women's tennis team this weekend at the ITA All-American Championships hosted by UCLA in Pacific Palisades, Calif., at the Riviera Tennis Club.
" We are very proud to have Nayara and Tiffany selected to compete in this prestigous event," said Head coach Shelley Godwin. "This is a great opportunity for Nayara and Tiffany to face some of the best players in college tennis as well as gaining national exposure for our program."
William will be one of 64 players featured in the pre-qualifying rounds, and will have to win three rounds to move onto qualifers. She will square off in against New Mexico's Meredith Hopson. William and Moraes will team up as one of 32 teams looking to advance further to the qualifying rounds, and will need three wins to move on. The duo will begin the tournament against Lok Sze Leung and Manon Peri of Northwestern.
The pre-qualifying rounds will begin Saturday and continue onto Sunday before the qualifying rounds taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday and main draw action concluding the event from Thursday, Oct.2-Sunday, Oct.5.
Main draw semifinalists, main draw doubles finalists and main draw consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov 6-9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
