Blue Raiders defeat Belmont, Austin Peay
NASHVILLE – Middle Tennessee women's tennis played host to the Belmont Bruins and Austin Peay Lady Govs at the Nashboro Village Athletic Club indoor courts after they began their season with a loss against Auburn and a win against Alabama A&M, both of which were on the road.
The Blue Raiders began the day with a 7-0 sweep of the Bruins and a thriller to conclude the match.
In doubles play, Nayara Moraes and Giulia Squadrin took the win at no. 3 doubles by a score of 6-0 to begin the day. Jesse Grace and Brittany Huxley clinched the doubles point by winning 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Tiffany William and Darya Shulzhanok won a close 6-3 match at the No. 2 doubles spot.

At the No. 1 singles spot, William was able to win the fourth point and the clinch the first Blue Raider of the day by winning 6-1, 6-1.

Sarah Sediri and Alexandra Torres trailed 1-4 at one point in their match but fought back to take a 5-4 lead before eventually taking the win, 7-5.
Shulzhanok's No. 1 singles match ended in just over 30 minutes in impressive fashion, 6-0, 6-0. Sediri put her foot on the gas and never let off, as she prevailed at no. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. No. 3 Grace and No. 4 Squadrin ended their matches almost simultaneously with scores of 6-1, 6-2 each.
