MT Remains Unbeaten at Home
NASHVILLE – Middle Tennessee continued its outstanding season with a sweep of its foes Sunday, including a 4-1 win over rival WKU and a 7-0 shutout against Lipscomb.
In doubles action, the combo of Giulia Squadrin and Jesse Grace took a quick 8-1 win over their competition at No. 3. Following them were Brittany Huxley and Nayara Moraes, who won 8-3 at No. 2. The match at No. 1 was left unfinished as MT had already clinched the doubles point.

Both teams fought hard in singles competition, but the Blue Raiders had the upper hand and clinched a victory leaving two matches unfinished.
Squadrin fell at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4, which gave the Hilltoppers their only point of the day. Darya Shulzhanok's match at No. 2 singles was a close match through two sets, but she ultimately took over the third set to take a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win.
Huxley dominated her match at No. 5 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0 to put MT ahead 3-1. The match at No. 1 singles was decided in the third set, with Tiffany William taking over late in the set to give the Blue Raiders the match-clinching point. William's score was 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
At No. 3 singles, Grace's match was left unfinished at a score of 7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 5-6, along with Moraes' match, who's score was 3-0 when it was stopped.
After a break, the Blue Raiders got back on the court to face the Lipscomb Lady Bison.
The doubles portion of the match went in similar fashion. Squadrin and Grace finished with a score of 8-1, winning with ease. Shulzhanok and William came out on top at No. 1, 8-3.
Huxley and Moraes took a 5-8 loss at No. 2, but the Blue Raiders had already clinched the doubles point in the second match of the afternoon.
The battle at No. 2 singles ended quickly, as Shulzhanok was able to knock off her opponent 6-3, 6-0. Grace followed suit with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 3, giving the Blue Raiders their third point of the match.
The match was clinched by Squadrin at No. 4, by grabbing a 6-3, 6-4 win. No. 1 singles was also an intense match featuring two close sets, but William had the upper hand, 6-4, 6-3.
With the match already won, Huxley played an 8-game pro set, where she rolled to an 8-3 win. All eyes were on Moraes, as she came from behind to take an 8-3 victory, completing the sweep of the Lady Bison.
Sarah Sediri competed in an exhibition match that did not count towards the match score and won 8-2.
Following a 4-1 win over WKU and a 7-0 blanking of the Lipscomb Lady Bison, MT women's tennis will hit the road on Wednesday, March 4 and travel to Chattanooga to play UTC.
