Netters drop tough 4-2 match

Fall to 16-4 following setback at Tulane
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Middle Tennessee dropped a 4-2 decision against No. 57 Tulane here Friday afternoon, ending the Blue Raiders eight-match winning streak.
The competitive match was back and forth until Meredith Maltbly clinched it with a 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) win against Middle Tennessee's Sarah Sediri at No. 6 singles.
Middle Tennessee (16-4) dropped the doubles point to fall behind 1-0 heading into the singles matches.
Tulane (16-7) went on top 2-0 when Jacqui Katz dealt Nayara Moreaes a 6-1, 6-3 setback at No. 5 singles. It was Moraes' first loss of the season in 15 decisions.
Middle Tennessee fell behind 3-0 when Darya Shulzhanok lost 3-6, 3-6 to Naz Karagoz at No. 2 singles; however, the Blue Raiders came storming back to pull to within 3-2 following consecutive singles victories.
Jesse Grace took down Nicky Stracar 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in a thrilling three-set decision. Brittany Huxley pulled Middle Tennessee to within 3-2 with another exhilarating three-set decision. Huxley won 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3).
Middle Tennessee needed to win its final two matches to rally for the win. Tiffany William was in a three-set battle at No. 1 and Sarah Sediri had a tough battle at No. 6. Sediri fell 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) and William's match went unfinished.
