Laari Currently Maintains a 3.74 GPA
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Junior Sampson Laari was named to the 2016 InTouch Credit Union C-USA Cross Country Men's All-Academic Team for his stellar performance as an athlete and in the classroom.
The Kumasi, Ghana native, currently holds a 3.74 GPA, while majoring in Liberal Studies. This is his first year running cross country for the Blue Raiders and he has established himself as one of the top runners on the team.
Laari received multiple awards from the conference this season, including being named First Team All-Conference after his seventh place finish in the C-USA Championship. He was also honored by the conference on Sept. 13, being named the C-USA Athlete of the Week, for his first place finish in the second race of his career.
Associate Head Coach Keith Vroman is impressed with Laari's performance on the course and in the classroom this year.
"I'm very proud of Sampson," Vroman said. "He's worked hard in training and in the classroom. It just goes to show that hard work pays off."
Laari finished in the Top 11 of every race that he has competed in this season and will be running in Friday's NCAA South Regional 10k race at 8:30 a.m. in Tallahassee, Fla.
