Second consecutive Coach of the Year honor for Adams
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Conference USA released its postseason awards Wednesday morning with Middle Tennessee head coach Chris Adams being honored as C-USA Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The recognition comes after Adams led the Blue Raiders to a second consecutive Conference USA Championship with a 12-over par performance last week in Fort Myers, where three Blue Raiders finished in the top five.
"It's a great honor and means a lot to me to be voted as Coach of the Year by the coaches of this league," Adams said. "There's no question the only reason I'm getting this honor is because of the success of our girls and the team."
Middle Tennessee won team titles this season at the Blue Raider Invitational and Web.com Intercollegiate in addition to defending its C-USA title.
The three titles give Middle Tennessee 17 all time, 12 of which have come under the direction of Adams, and vaulted the Blue Raiders as high as No. 48 in the Golfstat rankings, the highest MT has ever climbed.
The Blue Raiders finished in the top five in eight of their ten tournaments on the season while averaging 293.1 strokes per round, the best mark in program history.
Middle Tennessee also placed all five Blue Raiders who competed at the Conference USA Championship on all-conference teams with three First Team All-C-USA selections and two Second Team All-C-USA selections.
Adams was previously named C-USA Coach of the Year in 2015 and Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2012, giving her three such honors in the last five seasons.
