But Blue Raiders drop both games
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee dropped both ends of a doubleheader against visiting Marshall here Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Raiders lost the opener, 25-9, and suffered a tough 6-5 setback in the nightcap.
Riley Delgado and Aaron Aucker had strong offensive days for the Blue Raiders despite the sweep. Delgado hit .625 (5-for-8) with a double, three RBI and one run scored, while Aucker hit .571 (4-for-7) with four RBI, two doubles and one run scored.
Brad Jarreau, Kaleb King, Vaughn Shapen and Blake Benefield also had strong offensive games and hit .333 in the two games. Chaz Vesser was 3-for-4 in the opener.
Delgado was 3-for-4 in the nightcap and enters the month of May with a healthy .400 batting average. Aucker also was 3-for-4 in the nightcap.
In addition to Vesser, Jarreau also had three hits in the first game. Delgado and Drew Huff (2-for-4, 2 runs) also had multi-hit games.
The Blue Raiders are off next week for final exams. They return to action at Louisiana Tech next Friday.
