Raiders take fifth in Lady Paladin Invitational

Long notches Top 10 finish in Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Middle Tennessee carded a 1-under par 287 on the final day of the Lady Paladin Invitational to claim 5th place in the field of 20 teams while sophomore Hanley Long landed in the top 10 with her 4-under 68 in round three.
The Blue Raiders had a three-day total of 6-over par (282-301-287=870) to finish four strokes behind Augusta while Texas took home the team title at 11-under par. Middle was 11 strokes clear of sixth-place finisher Missouri.
MT posted a tournament-best 48 birdies across the 54-hole event and were in the top five in both Par 4 (+24) and Par 5 (-10) scoring.
"Overall this was a great tournament for us," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "I think this gives us some confidence moving forward after posting two under par rounds as a team on a tough course alongside some really good teams."
Long's 54-hole total of 1-under (74-73-68=215) led the Raiders and landed her a third career top 10 finish, coming in a tie for 9th.
Fellow sophomore Jenna Burris was just one stroke off the pace set by Long, finishing the tournament at even par (69-74-73=216) and tied for 12th.
Samantha Gotcher came in just behind Burris in a tie for 15th place, carding a three-round total of 1-over par (71-75-71=217).
Lacie York opened the tournament with a career-low 68 (-4) but finished at 6-over (68-79-75=222) and tied for 40th in the field of 112.
Katherine Holmes closed the tournament out with an 8-over 80 to finish with a 19-over 235 (76-79-90) while Emily Lankford, who was playing as an individual, carded a 32-over 248 (82-82-84) on the weekend.
Long notched the best Par 5 scoring total in the field, going 8-under across the three-day tournament while Burris came in second in the field in Par 3 scoring at 2-under. Long was also tied for second in birdies among the 112 golfer field with 14 for the tournament.
"To have three finishers in the Top 15 is awesome and I'm very proud of our girls this week," Adams added.
Middle Tennessee's next tournament is the Greenville Regional Preview on Oct. 17-18, hosted by East Carolina at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club.
