FINAL RESULTS
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee closed out the regular season at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga., Tuesday, tying for 11th place at 63-over par 927 (308-310-309).
The Blue Raiders tied Jacksonville (927) and were just eight strokes back of 10th place (919).
"The course was pretty tough and after spending 12 hours out there yesterday, today was pretty draining both physically and mentally," Head Coach Chris Adams said.
Hanley Long's second consecutive 4-over 76 left her atop the standings for MT, finishing tied for 37th at 14-over 230 (78-76-76).
Senior Samantha Gotcher fired a 1-over 73 on Tuesday, the lowest round of any Blue Raider this week, to move up the leaderboard into a tie for 43rd at 16-over (79-80-73=232).
Jenna Burris matched Gotcher's 54-hole score of 16-over 232, shooting a 7-over 79 for the second straight round after an opening round 74. The pair also logged four of MT's five birdies on the day.
Junior Cynthia Bounleutay logged a 9-over 81 in the final round at Brickyard Golf Club to finish one stroke back of Gotcher and Burris and tied for 50th at 17-over (77-75-81=233).
Freshman Katherine Holmes rounded out the Blue Raider lineup at 14-over on Tuesday, finishing the tournament 33-over (79-84-86=249).
Lacie York, playing as an individual in Macon, logged a 56-over 272 (85-95-92).
"It's not the week we wanted to have, but we've had about four weeks off since our last tourney so we were a little out of competition mode," Adams said. "We did get a few good rounds out of the top four, but we have to get a little bit more focused heading into conference."
The Blue Raiders have a short stay in Murfreesboro before leaving Saturday for Fort Myers, Fla., and the Conference USA Championship.
MT will have a practice round at the Verandah Club on Sunday before defending its back-to-back league titles Monday through Wednesday.
