The 2019 spring schedule for Middle Tennessee's men's tennis team was released by head coach Jimmy Borendame. It includes 9 home dates and 13 matches at the Adams Tennis Complex, which will also host the Conference USA tournament this season.
"This is a solid dual match schedule," said Borendame. "We have some exciting home matches that will bring large crowds to the ATC this year. This schedule gives us plenty of great opportunities to improve our team and ensure that we will be well prepared heading into the C-USA Championship."
The spring season begins at home as the Blue Raiders host Austin Peay and Chattanooga on January 16 at the ATC before they travel to the Virginia Tech Invite on January 19. The trip to Blacksburg is followed by a visit to North Carolina for ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 25 where MT will face Duke and either UNC or Utah.
After a trip to Indiana for a dual match with the Hoosiers on February 1, the Blue Raiders return to Murfreesboro for eight straight home matches. MT hosts Wichita State (February 4), North Alabama (February 4), Vanderbilt (February 8), Rice (February 15), South Alabama (February 17), Alabama A&M (February 17), St. John's (February 22), and North Florida (February 24). A trip to Tennessee on February 27 will close out the month.
MT opens the month of March with traveling out west to face Arizona on March 4 and Oregon on March 7 before the next home match against ETSU on March 15. The Blue Raiders will travel to Virginia for matches against VCU and William & Mary before two matches on Senior Day, March 30, against UAB and Alabama State.
MT will compete in C-USA Pod play in Charlotte beginning on April 5 and will play matches against Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, and Old Dominion. The final regular season match will be at Georgia State on April 14.
The 2019 C-USA Championship is set for April 19-21 at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro. This will be the second time in three years that the ATC will host the C-USA Championship.
All home matches are free admission and many will feature promotions that will be announced at a later date.
