LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Blue Raiders women's golf team caught fire early in the second round to shoot even par (288) and finish the day in third place on day two of the Betty Lou Evans Invitational.
Hanley Long scored early and often, birdieing her first three holes of the day. Long was able to keep steady on the tough back nine, finishing the day at 2-under. Long is tied for third (-4) in the individual leaderboard.
Sophie Burks also sprinkled in three birdies in her front nine to help the team climb the leaderboards early on.
After going even on the front nine, Catherine Caudill found her groove at the turn, rolling in three birdies on the final nine holes.
The Blue Raiders return to the course tomorrow looking to close the gap on both Penn State and Kentucky.
Live scoring of round three can be followed at Golfstat.com.
NOTABLES
"We played really solid today. Hanley hung in there and made several birdies early but gave a few back late before finishing with a birdie. To get another under par round from Catherine is awesome and Sophie and Caroline finished strong too. We had a really great round going, but stumbled a little at the end. With another day tomorrow, I think we could finish strong." – Head Coach Chris Adams
