MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee returns to Murphy Center Friday evening to host Charleston Southern after falling on the road at Belmont on Monday despite boasting four players in double digits at the Curb Event Center.
Three of the four players – Antonio Green, Donovan Sims, and Reggie Scurry – have put up double-digit point totals in each of the first three games. However, it was Karl Gamble who led MT on Monday as he put up a career-high 20 points with a team-high eight rebounds.
Gamble is currently averaging nine rebounds a game, just shy of Scurry's team-leading 9.7 boards. Green remains the team leader with 22.3 points per game, but five Blue Raiders currently average in double figures entering Friday's contest.
The Buccaneers have won their first two home games over Columbia International and South Carolina State, but lost their lone road trip to Florida.
Junior guard Christian Keeling has been one of the team leaders in his first two seasons and currently leads the team with 19.3 points per game. He and senior Travis McConico are the only upperclassmen that have seen extended minutes so far for the young Bucs.
Through the first three games, CSU's starting lineup has included Keeling and McConico along with two freshmen and a sophomore.
The Blue Raiders and Buccaneers are facing off for the first time in the history of the programs. However, MT head coach Nick McDevitt brought with him to Murfreesboro a 9-1 record against the Bucs during his tenure at UNC Asheville.
