MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders host the Belmont Bruins in the Murphy Center for their annual blue out game on Monday, Nov. 19 at 6:30p.m. Middle Tennessee enters the contest with a 2-1 record after falling to Tennessee Tech (68-64) on Friday evening.
Middle Tennessee Blue Out on Monday
Fans attending Monday's contest against Belmont are encouraged to support the Lady Raiders by wearing their favorite True Blue apparel for the teams annual Blue Out. The Marketing and Promotions team will be handing out free t-shirts for the first 250 Middle Tennessee students who attend the Monday evening game.
Tale of the Tape: The Blue Raiders and the Bruins
Monday's contest marks the 17th meeting between Middle Tennessee and Belmont with the Blue Raiders leading the all-time series over the Bruins, 16-0.
The last time the two programs met was back on Nov. 11, 2000 as the Lady Raiders claimed a 74-62 victory over Belmont.
Scouting the Belmont Bruins (2-1, 0-0)
The Belmont Bruins enter the contest after inking the teams second win of the season in the Curb Event Center over Wright State, 79-63. The team opened their season with a 77-62 setback at NC State before bouncing back to claim their first win over Tulsa (78-53) at home.
Senior Darby Maggard leads the team's offense, averaging 31.7 minutes in her first three outings for the Bruins. Maggard is 20-for-41 (.488) from the field while notching 15-of-29 from the three-point line.
Similarly, junior forward Maggie Wright controls the Bruins rebounding efforts, averaging eight rebounds per contest.
Blue Raiders fall short to Tennessee Tech, 68-64
Despite 21 points from senior A'Queen Hayes, the Blue Raiders dropped their Friday afternoon contest to the Golden Eagles in Cookeville, Tenn. The 5-foot-8 guard notched 7-of-18 from the field for the team while adding 10 rebounds and two assists in the contest.
Middle Tennessee crashed the boards in the game, creating a +13-rebounding margin (39-26) over Tennessee Tech. However, the teams rebounding was not enough as the Golden Eagles claimed the Friday evening contest, 68-64.
Middle Tennessee Hosts Mississippi Valley State
The Lady Raiders will return to the Murphy Center on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to host Mississippi Valley State at 5:00 p.m. before heading to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in their first preseason tournament of the season.
