LOUISVILLE, Ky. – 12 members of the Middle Tennessee softball program were named as 2017-18 Easton/NFCA NCAA Division I All-American Scholar-Athletes when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its full list of honorees.
Blue Raider alumni Precious Birdsong, Gretchen Greer, Morgan Harris, Cori Jennings, Dani Munoz and Pattie Ruth Taylor along with current MT student-athletes Kirstyn Cuccia, Lexi Cushing, Brooke McClure, Keely McGee, Deja Portillo and Claire Smith were each honored by the NFCA for their work in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year. The recognition is earned by holding a GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout the full school year.
"We are very honored that the NFCA is honoring 12 of our student athletes," said Head Caoch Jeff Breeden. "Our players try each day to be champions in the classroom, on the field and in our community. Each of our scholar athletes is a great ambassador for our athletic program and university."
In his first six seasons at the helm, Breeden has accumulated 50 NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes awards in his tenure. The Blue Raiders also had 12 athletes honored last season. Harris earned the award all four-years in her career at MT.
The NFCA honored a 6,280 student-athletes across seven membership divisions with 1,311 honorees coming from the NCAA Division I ranks.
