Women's Golf to tee off in Knoxville Monday

Raiders without Burris due to injury
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Just days after a strong finish at the Minnesota Invitational to open the season, Middle Tennessee women's golf is back in action Monday as play begins at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville.
The Blue Raiders are one of 17 teams in the field at Cherokee Country Club, a Par 71, 5,900-yard course, and are joined by Conference USA rivals Charlotte and UTSA as well as in-state foes Chattanooga, ETSU, and host Tennessee.
Rounding out the field are BYU, Central Florida, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, Ole Miss and South Dakota State.
Middle Tennessee is competing at Cherokee for the second time in the last three seasons, but return just one golfer from that lineup in senior Hanley Long as her classmate Jenna Burris will miss the tournament due to injury. In her fourth and final season of competition, Burris will be missing a tournament for just the second time.
Joining Long in Knoxville this week are the sophomore trio of Sophie Burks, Caroline Caudill and Savannah Quick as well as freshman Catherine Caudill, who made her collegiate debut last week in Minnesota.
