"This was a difficult loss for us," said head coach Aston Rhoden. "We led twice in the game but didn't do a good job of closing the game out. We will have to quickly put this game behind us and get ready for a strong Charlotte team on Sunday."
The first half was tightly contested by both teams with 1-1 left on the board after 45. The Blue Raiders quickly got on the score sheet after reigning C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Peyton DePriest pressured the Monarch box forcing a penalty kick. Hannah Tillett easily converts the PK giving the Raiders the early 1-0 lead, she is 9-9 in her career.
